Trial/Wedding Day Hair & Makeup Prep

A small guide to prepare for your trial/wedding day and to help you not only visualize but also smoothly execute your dream bridal look.

**If you’ve scheduled a trial or booked us for your special day, we recommend reviewing this page to ensure you’re well-prepared for your trial and wedding. **

    • Please arrive with clean and completely dry hair. Please note that there will be an extra fee of $40 for individuals with wet or damp hair, as we will need to blow-dry it. If a blow-out is required a fee of $60 is charged. This is for bridal and for anyone getting service done.

    • Avoid wearing your hair in a tight bun or any hairstyle that could cause kinks or indentations in your hair. Instead, gently pull your hair back using a scrunchy or a band that won't leave creases in your hair.

    • Make sure your hair is not excessively oily or greasy, but also avoid having hair that is overly unclean. Hair that is too unclean can make it more challenging to style and may not hold your desired hairstyle as effectively.

    • Hair Extensions - We can clip in your hair extensions for an additional fee of $40. This is for the bride or anyone getting service done.

    • Wash your face prior to makeup application

    • You can safely use your regular skincare products along with a lightweight moisturizer.

    • Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and achieve a smoother texture. This helps makeup adhere evenly and prevents flakiness.

    • Maintain a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants while limiting your intake of excessive sugar and processed foods.

    • Refrain from trying new, harsh treatments too close to the wedding, as they might cause redness or irritation.

    • Wear a white top - as it makes it easier to visualize your hair and makeup for the wedding day.

    • Avoid using vague terms. Words like 'boho', 'natural' or 'vintage' have somewhat lost all meaning. Your idea of ‘natural beachy waves' or ‘natural makeup' might be very different from your hairstylist or makeup artist's idea. If you know what you want, be specific, and better still, have examples.

    • Don't expect your look to be identical to the photos. Your stylist or makeup artist will use them to take inspiration, but adapt them to your own features and hair texture. Be the best version of you!

    • If only getting hair, it is helpful to have your makeup done similar to how you have it done for the day of the wedding.

    • We will be taking lots of pictures/videos after your trial is completed.

    • Make Plans for Afterwards - Make the most of your pro-styled hair or makeup. Go out dancing, get some cocktails or plan a special date night

    • Giving your hair and makeup a proper test run means you can see how it wears over the course of a day or night. You can check how it looks in photographs. Plus, test and tweak any of the products you may need for longevity.

    • Wear your hair down, generally washed the night before with no product in it.

    • Bring along photos of the styles you like.

    • Bring your veil, wedding hair accessories and earrings.

    • Bring a photo of your dress so your hairstylist can get a sense of the neckline.

    • Let them know any non-negotiables. Flowers in your hair, red lipstick and liquid liner, a victory roll up-do, if you have your heart set on certain details, let the pros know.

    • Be open to suggestions. Good hairstylists and makeup artists know what they're doing, so give them freedom to play around a little - have an open mind.

How long will my trial take?

Bridal Hair & Makeup Trials take 1.15hr

Can I schedule a trial before booking you for my wedding?

It’s totally up to you but note that if you wait to send your wedding day deposit until after the trial, your chosen date might get booked by another bride. Our dates are open to everyone until deposits are received even if you have a trial scheduled. Your trial deposit is not refundable. It's entirely your decision!

Can I do my trial on a weekend?

We schedule trials from Mondays-Thursdays. Please be sure to check our availability with us before booking a photoshoot or special event. Our dates are limited for this year.

When should I schedule my trial?

We always recommend scheduling the trial closer to the wedding date, ideally about two months beforehand. This timing allows for any changes in trends or preferences you might develop along the way. Sometimes brides discover new styles that they prefer, and having the trial closer to the date gives us flexibility to accommodate those changes.

Can I do my trial late in the day?

Doing it earlier gives you a chance to see how your hair and makeup wear throughout the day, which is super helpful for making sure everything holds up perfectly on your wedding day. It also lets you see your look in different types of lighting—natural daylight, indoor light, and evening light—so you get the full picture of how everything will photograph and feel. Let me know what works best for you—I just want to make sure you get the most out of your trial!

I’m shy, what if I don’t like something?

If there’s anything you’re not happy with during your trial—whether it’s the eyeliner, lip color, foundation, or anything else—please let us know while you’re there. Don’t worry about offending us; this is your wedding day, and your happiness is what matters most. We understand that you’re investing a lot in your big day, and we want you to look and feel your absolute best. If you’d like any adjustments, we won’t take it personally. Your satisfaction is our top priority! If you have any feedback or changes you’d like to make after the trial, please email me and let me know so we can make the necessary adjustments on your wedding day.
